Food Vendor Launch Kit · 2026 Edition

Tennessee

Every state permit, fee and form

One PDF for Tennessee: every state-level license, fee and agency you need to start a food truck, trailer, cart or food stall at a farmers market, with a direct link to the official page behind every number, so you can confirm it yourself instead of taking our word for it. Local permits are set by each county or city, so the biggest local markets are priced and every kit tells you how to find the office that covers you.

Get the Tennessee kit: $39

The kit is $39, which is the cheapest line item in your launch. The expensive part was never a fee: it is applying for a permit in the wrong order and losing six weeks. Every figure was checked against an official Tennessee government source, and when Tennessee changes a rule you get the corrected kit at no extra cost.

This is a food business kit. If you sell crafts, art or other non-food goods, most of it will not apply to you.

Look inside

Two real pages from the Tennessee kit.

Not a mock-up and not a sample chapter. This is the page that carries the direct links, and the Tennessee at-a-glance page.

Why this exists

The information is public. It’s also scattered and often wrong.

Every figure in this kit was checked against an official Tennessee government source, and that source link sits beside the number. Two things it turned up:

Tennessee: mobile food permit

The State Fire Marshal permit is $300 and is easy to miss: it is separate from the county health permit and separate from any local fire inspection (TCA 68-102-123).

Tennessee: business entity

Tennessee charges per member with a $300 floor, and the annual report carries the same $300 minimum every year, which is unusually high for a single-member LLC.

What’s covered

Tennessee food permits, completely, and nothing you’ll never use.

  • Entity filing. Tennessee Secretary of State: the fee, the recurring cost, and the direct filing link.
  • Mobile food permit. County health department (Metro Public Health Dept in Nashville/Davidson) and the TN State Fire Marshal: which office issues it, what it charges, and the application page.
  • Cottage food. Tennessee Food Freedom Act (TCA 53-1-118), expanded by HB 130 / Public Chapter 431 (2025): the cap, what registration it takes, and the statute itself.
  • Sales tax registration plus the commissary, market, and insurance question lists.
